Sustainable Development Goals Impacted
Raising global ambition and driving more rapid and transformative climate action through increased investments in agriculture and food systems Innovations.
Amidst the intensifying climate crisis, a profound challenge emerged: the need to catalyse a paradigm shift in agriculture and food systems innovation and its pivotal role in accelerating climate action.
Traditional narratives surrounding agriculture often fell short in addressing its potential as a solution to the climate crisis.
The Opportunity:
The Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate initiative (AIM for Climate), emerged as a visionary joint initiative between the USA and the UAE, backed by 55 country partners and over 600 non-governmental partners. Launched by the President of the United States, AIM for Climate advocates for increased public and private sector investments to accelerate climate action, end hunger, and tackle the global food insecurity crisis.
Public and private partner self-funded investments have increased to more than $17 billion (over a 2020 baseline), exceeding the challenge by U.S. Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry at COP27 to achieve $10 billion by COP28.
Our collaboration with the US and UAE governments has placed us in a leading role in developing and implementing the global communications and advocacy strategy for AIM for Climate since its announcement in July 2021. We have taken the helm of ongoing global advocacy-led communications activities, stakeholder engagement, content creation, and event-driven campaigns.
Concurrently, we have worked diligently to cement AIM for Climate’s leadership position on the global stage, leveraging the influential voices of key stakeholders.
The Impact
The communications campaign has evolved organically, transitioning from awareness-building to an educational approach, spotlighting AIM for Climate’s impact and urgency.
At every COP conference to date, AIM for Climate has emerged as the most recalled agriculture initiative.
As part of a holistic, integrated approach, our activities have galvanised new government and non-government partners at every juncture, resulting in increased investments. This remarkable impact underscores our commitment to catalysing agriculture and food systems innovation for a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
